If there’s any prerequisite of genius that is absolutely required, it is a strong and clear intentionality. If you want to turn on “the flow state” for yourself and enter into a “genius” state of total engagement and focus, then you have to have a strong purpose. So, what is your purpose? What specific purposes do you have that you believe in and value and are willing to govern your attentions and focus?

In Neuro-Semantics we distinguish two aspects of consciousness: attention and intention. Attention is what’s on our mind— it is what we attend to. And this is our most familiar world. As we grow up and move through life, we experience all sorts of attentions. and all sorts of things can and do catch our attention. And as our attention goes, so does our energy, our responses, and our reactions. Yet this is the life of a small child or animal. It is not what the life of an adult should be like. In growing up, part of maturity is learning to take control of our attentions.
