Calls to Adventure: In Neuro-Semantics, we use the phrase “bring one state to bear on another.” Why not “bring one field to bear on another” and vice versa? Each can be a call to adventure. I like to model from the boundary of one field and another. Then, bring one field to bear on the other. Each field may have perspectives and patterns that can empower the other field.

The First Call

The first call to adventure is to apply Neuro-Semantics to System Dynamics. System Dynamics seeks to understand the behavior of complex social and physical systems. It uses system thinking and computer simulation. It's models contribute to policy design and analysis. They also contribute to learning and experimenting. Hopkins created a system dynamics model to teach Hamlet to High School students. There are models for social experiments like the Zimbardo’s Stanford Prisoner Experiment. There is a model exploring a family dynamics issue. These are simulation models that use "what if" scenarios. David Lounsbury and I discuss these models in "Psychological and Sociological Dynamics."
