In my Executive Coaching practice, I find more often than not, my clients experiencing emotional states that limit their professional performance, make them appear with a negative perception from bosses and direct reports, or they struggle navigating in the organizational culture having difficulties relating with people.

We usually start applying assessment tools to identify their character and personality contrasted to their actual position’s profile and requirements. We run, as well a 360 assessment and interviews to identify the executive's leadership competencies and his/her ability to relate effectively with boss, direct reports, peers and other audiences. The root cause: the lack of ability to manage their emotions.

Let us review some basic concepts:

“Emotions are evaluative judgment, meanings, values, beliefs that we hold and show up in out body -soma- as feelings.” We register and contrast the difference between:

1) Our model of the world: wants, expectations, should, understandings, history, hopes, imagination, versus

2) Our experience of the world: our present moment sense of what we are getting; kinesthetic sensations, that work as signals to let us know the time to act providing the feelings and energy to do so.
