FROM ARTICLES TO BOOKS

One of the writers on Framers is Miral El Ramlawy, from Dubi. Last week, after I wrote the “Writers’ Review” she wrote and asked: “What have you found to be the main commonalities and differences between writing an article and a book? And how can someone develop from writing articles to more lengthy and structured publications? Maybe you can write us an article about that :).”
What a great idea! So here goes. The articles that I and others write here on Frames and what I write on Neurons and Morpheus are generally 1½ to 2 pages in length. At times an article may go three pages or more, but not very often. When it comes to chapters in a book, I aim for approximately 10 pages (10 to 15). While many of the books I read, especially the scholarly and technical books will have chapters 40 or 50 pages in length, most personal developments books keep the chapters to 10 to 15 pages. That size of a chapter is a good read, thirty-minutes or so. More than that generally extends beyond what most people endure in a single-reading.
