HEALTHY THINKING
For most of my life, I lived with obesity. Diets were a familiar, exhausting cycle where I would lose weight only to gain it back, often with interest. Friends would jokingly ask whether I was in my "on" phase or my "off" phase. We laughed, but underneath the humour was a growing sense of hopelessness. Eventually, I stopped believing lasting change was possible. One of my mentors, Eric Edmeades, once described this conflict as having a food angel and a food devil constantly arguing inside your mind. I always felt like the helpless victim caught in the middle.
