IDENTIFYING PARENTING ERRORS
Because parents are humans, they make mistakes.
Because parents are humans, they make mistakes. It is inevitable. And sometimes these parenting errors can set up an environment in which a child learns the wrong thing or fails to learn the right thing. When a person grows up in a dysfunctional home, or with an insecure attachment, or having experienced various other parenting errors, how can that person straighten things out? How can the person unlearned what was falsely learned or learn what was never learned?
Now if you were to estimate the number of people who come into adult life significantly suffering from parenting errors, what would you guess? Are we talking 50%? 75%? Or perhaps just 30%? That every parent is imperfect and makes mistakes means that we all have experienced parenting errors. But many were corrected in real time when they happened so there was no lasting damage. Others are not.
