Today I finished the Reframing Genius training, the first time since 2018 and only the second in-person training since the pandemic began. This training is a required piece of the NLP Master Practitioner course and is the Neuro-Semantic development of conversational reframing.

It starts with the basic neuro-linguistic premise that words are powerful, and the words you use in your head and the words you offer when you communicate can have profound effect in the minds and lives of others. So impressed were the NLP developers of the seeming “word magic” of Fritz Perls, Virginia Satir, and Milton Erickson that they spent three years unpacking that “magic.” They did that to figure out one question, “How did these experts use language in such powerful ways?” The result was the two volume book, The Structure of Magic (1975) which they used to detail the linguistic structures that contained their distinctions (Volume I) and the non-linguistic interactions that expanded a client’s mental map (Volume II).
