Approaching retirement age or working with individuals in their 60s often raises the question: "What now?" If you're still brimming with vitality, physically and mentally, here's how I've used Neuro-Semantics to transition and develop a value proposition for myself and potential clients.
Slowing down has never appealed to me, especially as I thought of transitioning from my long- term job to my private business. My previous job provided purpose, independence, and flexibility. It allowed me to engage in innovative work on my own terms while ensuring financial security.
What do I want to do in my new career and why? I've played with that question for many months and imaged myself in several potential scenarios. Also, why would I ever want to slow down or retire? I realized I wanted to continue contributing to people and organizations and capitalize on my background along with my Neuro-Semantics and NLP skills. It was also reassuring to know that over 77% of baby boomer small business owners view work as a form of retirement activity (Guidant Financial).
