THE POWER OF AN APOLOGY

I made a mistake last week during a training. And it was a significant mistake. As we reconvened after lunch, a well-dressed and handsome Chinese businessmen raised his hand. He said he had a question about coaching. The previous day had been the last day for focusing on the coaching skills and that morning I had announced during the open question time that that would be the last chance to ask any questions about the coaching process itself. I had just announced that we were shifting gears that afternoon to begin focusing on the Business of Coaching. So this question seemed to come out of the blue and didn’t fit. “But, well, okay, one more final question.”
