Back in the years when I first discovered and created the Meta-States Model, I often did workshops and presentations on magnanimity. Why? Because magnanimity is a complex gestalt state and I wanted to illustrate how to build up, through multiple meta-stating, to create that very resourceful and powerful state or attitude. So I repeatedly used the meta-stating process to enable people to create a magnanimous spirit. You can find a chapter about that in the book Dragon Slaying (1995/ 2000).

Why create a magnanimous spirit? Because magnanimity is the cure for being small minded, petty, grumpy, irritable, unforgiving, and other similar states that make us less effective within ourselves and especially in relationship to others. I knew that, but what I did not know was that it was a prerequisite for collaboration. That’s why I didn’t say that in Meta-States or Dragon Slaying back then. While I was practicing collaboration, I had not yet studied it, and so did not know that.
