I have just completed reading a new book on Self-Actualizing Companies. But it is not called that. Instead they call it, Firms of Endearment (2014) by Raj Sisodia, Jag Sheth, and David Wolfe. The subtitle: How World-Class Companies Profit from Passion and Purpose. When I came across that I wondered if they had read my book on self-actualizing companies and had picked up the three bottom-lines of a self-actualizing company: Profit, People, and Passion or Purpose. But no they had not.

This book follows in genre of other key business books—Tom Peter’s Search for Excellence, Jim Collins’ Good to Great, and Charles O’Reilly’s Hidden Treasures. All of these are books that set out to model the best practices in organizations. What these authors added here was “heart.” They looked for organizations that thought holistically enough to include all stakeholders so that everyone would win.
