For years I did not make any distinction between the brain and the mind. When I entered NLP I readily took on the language that NLP is about “running your own brain.” At the time I did not see any need to distinguish the two.

But fast forward nearly 40 years and today a new confusion has arisen and it goes under the guise of the neuro-sciences. Now we have had the neuro-sciences since the end of the 19 th century, but it was not called that. Do you know what it was called? Simply, neurology. And if you read Science and Sanity (1933/1994) you will an extensive presentation of the best thinking about Neurology at that time. Korzybski quoted the work of Pavlov and the leading medical minds about brain anatomy. And that’s why Korzybski named his process “neuro-linguistics” and “neuro-semantics.”
