Your Competitive Advantage

Here’s a secret: Your continuing education is your competitive advantage.  Did you know that?  Now that the secret has been exposed, the next question: Do you know how it is your competitive advantage in the field of coaching?  And if it is, how is your education continuing?  I certainly hope it is.  Mine continues.  In just the past 2½ weeks I re-read three books on Gestalt (one by Perls), four books on Family Systems (three by Virginia herself) and both volumes of NLP’s first book, The Structure of Magic.

Why?  First of all, because of some questions asked on Meta-Fest.  In my presentation, I mentioned that the NLP founders did not model Perls or Satir as persons to understand how they thought, believed, valued, or their intentions.  That gave me a thought, “How much of their actual thinking could I can pick up if I re-read their basic books?   Hmmm, I wonder.”  So, that’s what I did.  For the last of August and during the past couple weeks that’s been my continuing education.
