"A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes". Charles Spurgeon

Many different people may hold different beliefs or meanings for 'trust'. Here is what I have been discovering about trust. From the book "The Collaborative Leader", McDermott and Hall, pg 114: 'Trust is a state' that involves the developmental process and distinctions along two axes --- one with a focus on self (vertical axis), the other with a focus on others (horizontal axis). Without trust, collaboration will be limited. To be a collaborative person, you need to unify both, self and other. The self development vertical axis (as part of the Collaboration Synergy Axis), can be benchmarked and gauged from;

1) Undeveloped; and not knowing your skills.

2) Knowing self; the person knows his/her talents, potential and style.

3) Accepting self; the person has developed awareness and acceptance of both his or her strengths and weaknesses.

4) Appreciating self; the person has identified and developed his or her strengths and appreciatively focused on them.
