COULD NEURO-SEMANTICS REPLACE NLP?
I’m worried about NLP.
I’m worried about NLP. As I survey what’s going on in the field of NLP, I’ve previously written about my concerns and what will happen to the field. There are several concerns: moving away from its foundations, the lack of developing NLP itself, wondering off into areas beyond NLP and into things that contradict its foundations, focusing on arguments that have become irrelevant, failure to train the next generation of leaders.
Moving Away from Its Foundations NLP began with the Meta-Model; that was the first model. The founders paid attention to the language patterns of Perls and Satir and from that they created the NLP Communication Model which was linguistic and representational. Yet around the world, this is one of the least taught models of NLP. Why? I’m guessing because most trainers have not learned it very well, don’t understand it very well, and do not see the value in it. And worse, the less the Meta-Model is taught, the less NLP people are doing critical thinking.
