FORGET THE VISUAL SQUASH
Every pattern that someone creates is created at a certain time in history and has an expiration date.
Every pattern that someone creates is created at a certain time in history and has an expiration date. The reason for this is simple: We keep learning and we can improve, update, enhance, and completely invent new ways of doing things. Now when it comes to NLP, even when I took my training in the late 1980s, Richard Bandler had already said that the “Six Step Reframing” model was outdated and no longer one that he would recommend. We learned it anyway. There’s value in understanding the steps and in understanding how they came up with it.
Recently I mentioned in the Question-and-Answer period after one of the Executive Coaching Zoom sessions that the Visual Squash is a very un-ecological pattern and I would never use it for helping someone integrate two parts. That raised some question, so I explained my thinking. I also said that “I’ve never written an article on that, but one day I will or should.” BJ then reinforced it by saying, “Just listen to a transcription of the session and you have the article!” With that I got the hint: write the article!
