Today I spoke with a lady about her past work history and at one point she said "she has always been a glass half full person", I knew there was a simple perception driving this comment, and we had been openly talking about pessimism and regarding her not working for more than 15 years. We discussed how she thought of things not working and how much pain this had caused her overtime. As she had been thinking like this for a long time, we discussed how her thinking had now created a limited range to move along the line from pessimism to any sort of optimism, especially in different contexts of life.

Our discussion was merely an objective view and I was able to seek to understand her primarily by conversing to the values of pessimism and talking about problems, which she related to very well, blaming others for how her beliefs about customers in retail made her feel helpless until she couldn't handle it anymore and she decided to quit. She quit 15 years ago!
