In my last reflection (#32) I talked about the differences in mindsets and attitudes between an entrepreneur and an employee, especially in relation to time and being proactive. This time I will address some crucial elements to being in business that have to be mastered in order to build the grounds for long-term success.

* Problems are awesome! As trainers and coaches we are in the business of solving problems or training people to solve their own problems more effectively. Michael writes extensively about this in Unleashing Creativity. A business is as successful as the problems it solves. Big problems – big business. Do you know what kind of problems you solve, and what your training is a solution for?

This is a structured way of thinking about this that I first came in contact with from Michael Breen of NLP Times: Customer: Who is your customer? Who specifically do you help? Problem: What is the problem? How is it defined? Have you put it through the well-formed problem pattern that Michael developed? Can you describe the problem that you have a solution to in 2-3 succinct sentences?
