INCORPORATION / UTILISATION
As trainers, we know about incorporation or utilisation, it’s a form of reframing— taking something that happens in the training room and using it as a teaching point, this can be done either deliberately or spontaneously.
As trainers, we know about incorporation or utilisation, it’s a form of reframing— taking something that happens in the training room and using it as a teaching point, this can be done either deliberately or spontaneously. To illustrate each, I was once scheduled to present in front of a group of business owners, but the day before, I got knocked off my bike by an SUV and received a black eye and a huge graze on my jaw and cheek from smashing headlong into the road—not a pretty sight! I opened the presentation by saying, “Some of you may be asking yourself, ‘Who is this guy and why does he look like he's been hit by a truck?” I continued, “Well my name is Alan, and I've been hit by a truck!” I weaved the story throughout the presentation to illustrate key points and closed the loop on it at the end.
