When you conduct a training whether it be APG or NLP or Self-Actualization or any of the 40+ gateway trainings in Neuro-Semantics —is your training goal or objective “to do a training” or to achieve some specific outcome? If it is the former, your training will be weaker, will accomplish less, and will fail to really create your Neuro-Semantic branding. If it is the latter, then your training will be endowed with a sense of intentionality that will mobilize resources within your participants and establish you as someone to follow.
Does that make sense? Do you immediately recognize the difference? I did not for years. Once I discovered it, it made a lot of difference. Here’s the difference.
The first is an activity goal, the second is a performance goal. In the first, your goal in training is to do an activity—run the training. While that is good enough in itself, it is not a well-defined goal. As a result of engaging in that activity, how will you know if you have succeeded? When the clock reaches the last minute of the training? Now how exciting is that? You survived, so what? What have you actually achieved?
