I had a trainers reflection planned but was struck by a comment on Facebook that prompted me to write something new at the very last minute. The comment was a casual one from my friend and colleague David Murphy Ruiz. David, as most of you will know, is also on the ISNS Global Leadership Team. He’s an international trainer, the current president of the MCF, a PCMC certified Meta-Coach, and last year attained recognition as a Neuro-Semantic Master Trainer. So, David is an extremely accomplished and skilled Neuro-Semanticist and Meta-Coach. What then, did he say on Facebook that was so astute and meaningful? Well, David’s comment is the title of this reflection; and to me is a true reflection of mastery.

As trainers, we can easily forget the joy of being a participant in a training. I’ve seen an alarming amount of NLP trainers who put themselves on a pedestal with an attitude of superiority. They seem to think that attending a training they’ve already done, or is being delivered by someone ‘less experienced’ or even— heaven forbid— one of their students, would be ‘below them.’
