When we started Meta-Coaching, one of our intense conversations revolved around the quetion, “What should we set as the minimum requirements for people who want to take Meta-Coaching training?” I asked this question of each of the expert coaches (Graham, Cheryl, and Michelle) who co-trained the first ACMC with me. Among the four of us, however, we were divided in our opinions.

Two argued that if Meta-Coaching was to become recognized as having the highest quality of coaching anywhere in the world—it would need to be founded on the entire NLP foundation (the package of practitioner and master practitioner). The other two argued that asking people new to coaching, who wanted to become professional coaches, to sign up for the full package which consisted of 25 training days (10 for prac and 15 for master prac) was unrealistic. “Why would someone sign up for 25 days of NLP, pay $6,000+, and that’s just the requirements for beginning the coach training?” Good question.
