MAKING YOUR COACHING EXPERIENTIAL
Far, far too much coaching today is merely an intellectual chat.
Far, far too much coaching today is merely an intellectual chat. And when you listen to it, it sounds far too much like a ‘normal’ conversation. Yet to the extent that it is like a normal conversation, then what you are doing is not true coaching. And if that’s what you are doing—no wonder your clients are not passionately passing the word about the wonder and magic of what you can do in a coaching conversation! If your coaching is like that— there is a solution. Make your coaching experiential.
Making your coaching conversations experiential lies the very heart of Meta-Coaching which is an expression of Neuro-Semantics. That’s why we put such a strong emphasis on the inside–out principle and the mind-to-muscle principle. In order for your clients to become more effective and productive (and to win the outer game), you have to take him or her inside to the person’s World of Meaning. Only in that way can the person win his or her inner game. This means state induction. It means talking about the person’s experiences and entering into those subjective experiences.
