This is Day 3 here in Malaysia of Resilience: The Power of the Bounce Back. More than a dozen of the trainers who are present are planning to begin presenting and training Resilience. That’s great and it delights my heart. Why? Because people everywhere truly need this power—the power to bounce back after a set-back.

Far too many people suffer a set-back or a knock-down in life—perhaps in their finances, relationships, health, career, etc. and they just stay down. It knocks the life out of them, the vitality to be fully alive, and so they live out the rest of their lives in depression or pessimism or the low energy of just ‘surviving.’ That’s no way to live!

In a world where people think success should be easy and quick, mastery should be nearly instantaneous, and all bad news declared illegal—more and more people need resilience. Further, in today’s world there have arisen lots of misunderstandings about resilience in the past 15 or so years. Some think it means stoically tolerating disappointments, others think it means “throwing lots of resources” at the problem. And now we can correct those misunderstandings.
