SELF-ACTUALISATION SERIES – UNLEASHING VITALITY DAY 2
Here I will carry on from my last reflection where I outlined Day 1 of Unleashing Vitality.
Here I will carry on from my last reflection where I outlined Day 1 of Unleashing Vitality. Previously I mentioned having spent the first day of the training learning about their lower needs and how to properly gratify them. I said that participants would be ‘chomping at the bit’ to get into Day 2 and start exploring their higher needs. This is a natural response you can expect from people because needs are ‘hierarchically integrated’ and have an ‘emergent property ‘to them. What this means is that once the lower needs are satisfied—with true satisfiers— those needs are transcended. Then we start to ‘feel the pull’ of the higher needs; the needs to express our true and best selves, the needs to give, the needs to love, the needs to contribute to something bigger than ourselves, etc.
Then, on Day 2, we jump straight into exploring these higher drives of self-actualisation. We explore the nature of the higher needs and what they do for our lives. We also look at the differences between lower and higher needs, and come to recognise how very different the higher needs actually are.
