THE ART OF THE SLICING
Slicing — a training skill?
Slicing — a training skill? Really? What do you mean by this term, ‘slicing? How does it work? What is the value of it? How does one learn this training skill of slicing?
Slicing, as a training skill, is the skill of presenting and demonstrating a slice of a skill or experience. This refers to the skill of taking a part or a slice of a skill, describing it and then presenting just that slice. Now usually, when you do that, you will then want to have participants to practice that slice.
I did this recently when I was in Brazil. I had the wonderful opportunity to present at Meta-Forum for their “NLP Camp” and so on one day, we had 70 people come together for “The Structure of Change.” In those days, I presented the Neuro-Semantic models for thinking about generative change: the Axes of Change, Meta-Stating Change, and The Crucible of Change. On the first day and in the first 2 hours, I did a slice of the Axes of Change. Not the whole thing, just the first part. I wanted to demonstrate getting motivation and decision, nothing more.
