When Neuro-Semantics began in 1995 we set a vision to “raise the quality of NLP” that we would be presenting the very best NLP in the world. Have we reached that goal? Are we there yet? Since that time, using the Meta-States Model, we have—in Neuro-Semantics—removed every single NLP model and most of the patterns. We were able to do that because by examining the meta-framework that governs each model and pattern, we were able to articulate precisely how and why it worked. That was amazing!

What was amazing about were several things. First, I did not, nor did Bob, set out to do that. We were both much more naive and shy than that. We were simply interested in the question: “What would NLP look like if we viewed it from the higher perspective of the meta-levels?” We simply wanted to see what effect the Meta-States model would have on the various models. In searching out the answer to that question, we found ourselves re-modeling all of NLP.
