Obviously in organizations people manage downwards.
Obviously in organizations people manage downwards. Those who are hired as managers manage people below them, that is, people who report to them and may work for them. In an organization, a manager has the ‘authority’ or ‘power’ to determine many aspects of the lives of their reports. And there’s a whole set of understandings and skills which enable a manager to be effective. But what about managing upwards. Is that possible? And if so, how?
