Whether you are training, coaching or simply having a DMC (Deep and Meaningful Conversation), the way in which you use your voice plays a crucial role. On the NSTT benchmarking form, that point is emphasized by having a specific skill called “Effective use of voice”.

In the Neuro-Semantics Master Trainer Track session last week, my takeaway from what Michael Hall said, is that the “Effective use of voice” during the NSTT training in Egypt was the skill that most challenged trainers in general. This intrigued me. Was the voice monotone? Inaudible? Too fast? Stuttering? Stumbling? What effect was the voice having?

This raises the question, What is ‘Effective use of voice?’ The word “effective” is described as “adequate to accomplish a purpose; producing the intended or expected result”. What result do you want to produce when you use your voice? To be heard? To inspire? To teach? To invite? To make a point? To interest? To convince? To challenge? To induce the appropriate state? To express yourself fully?
