The reason I got into NLP originally was because it was a highly detailed and precise communication model. And I wanted to learn it because I was doing trainings and seminars on Communication Skills. That was 1986 and I was presenting a training that I called Speak Up, Speak Kind, Speak Clear. It was on assertive communication skills.

Now how I got into that was a realization that came to me in my psychotherapy practice. What was that realization? Namely, most of the problems that people have seem to fall back to poor communication skills. They poorly communicate with others which puts their relationships at risk. They poorly communicate to themselves which puts their emotional well-being, their physical health, and their psychological sanity at risk.
