I watched the movie, The Founder in 2018 and if you do, you will can see a great example of the refusal to collaborate. The movie is about Ray Kroc and the McDonald brothers. The brothers created a hamburger stand in California which was quite successful. Upon seeing it, Ray Kroc got a vision of franchising it and taking it national, and then international. But Kroc had a problem. Namely, getting the McDonald brothers to agree to allow their idea to be franchised. It was a big headache for Ray Kroc. They were not innovative thinkers and said “no” to just about every idea offered. Yet eventually Ray Kroc did it. His vision was much, much larger than theirs, and as an entrepreneur he was willing to risk even his home to make it happened. To finance things, he mortgaged his home (without telling his wife!) as together they sold the idea of buying the franchise and expanding McDonalds.
