WHEN NEURO-SEMANTIC TRAINERS STOP TEACHING AND START FACILITATING
I taught the Axes of Change model twice, eighteen months apart.
I taught the Axes of Change model twice, eighteen months apart. Same content. Although it felt like completely different results. Let me show you what changed for a different kind of thinking.
Then and Now
Years ago, I stood behind a table. PowerPoint clicker in hand, and perhaps my voice was monotone. I explained the four axis, checking my slides constantly for accurate questions. Participants sat at their tables, typing notes and listening. Two hours later, everyone understood the concept, with minimal interaction around the axis as we explored the questions. Yet, nobody transformed.
Two years later, I walked in differently. No tables and I had the chairs in a circle. Before speaking, I stretched my arms to opposite corners, my body carving invisible axis in space. I had another person tape the first 2 axis on the floor. My voice dropped: "Close your eyes. Think of one pattern you've tried to change... and failed." Three seconds of silence. Then I lifted my voice: "What if that pattern has a structure, and you could see it, map it out, shift it?" I moved to different corners as I spoke. One for attraction, another for aversion. My hands looped, showing reflexivity.
