You know that we put a lot of emphasis on the Meta-States Model at NSTT, but do you know why? You know that we spend three days on the background psychology of NLP and Meta- States and specifically the 14 patterns that you train in APG, but do you know why? And do you know why we ask you to take one of those patterns and use it as the one pattern that you over and over and over?

The reason we put the focus on the Meta-States Model at Trainers’ Training is because it is the flagship of Neuro-Semantics. It is the first and perhaps the most profound distinction between Neuro-Semantics and NLP. Do you know how to explain that statement when someone asks you? Here’s the answer. NLP distinguished itself by modeling basic human thinking as a person thinks or reasons, going from one thought to another. The result was that they took the TOTE model of George Miller, Eugene Gallenter, and Karl Pribram (Plans of Behavior, 1960), and enriched it with the representational systems that, in turn, created the NLP Strategy Model. You can read all about this in the 1980 book, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Volume I.
