A NEURO-SEMANTICIST READS THE NEWSPAPER
You have a craving for ice cream.
You have a craving for ice cream. So you go out late one night and bring home a container of Talenti Gelato. At home, you discover you can’t unscrew the top, even after trying for many hours. This story, and others I’ll discuss below, can be conversation starters you can use to illustrate Neuro-Semantics concepts. They can also liven up your trainings. Here, I will illustrate how.
One of more the more interesting books I own is “Mathematical Conversation Starters” (John DePillis, 2002). How does this book relate to Neuro-Semantics? The following story appears in DePillis’s book:
“Sherlock Holmes and Dr.Watson go camping and pitch their tent under the stars. During the night, Holmes wakes his companion and says: Watson, look up at the stars and tell me what you deduce. Watson says: I see millions of stars, and even if a few of those have planets it's quite likely there are some planets like Earth, and if there are a few planets like Earth out there, there might also be life. Holmes replies: Watson, you idiot. Somebody stole our tent.”
