AN ANTIDOTE FOR ASSESSMENT FEARS
“If ... we are wise enough to base our self-esteem not on being ‘right,’ but on being rational—on being conscious—and on having integrity, then we recognize that acknowledgment and correction of an error is not an abyss into which we have fallen, but a height we can take pride in having climbed.”

If people learn anything from Neuro-Semantics and from their experience with Meta-Coaches it should be this: Any and every form of conditional self-esteem puts you at the disposal of what happens in your world. It puts the esteem that you hold for yourself on the line so that it can be threatened, attacked, and dissimated by people and events. That is not wise! If you put your esteem-of-self as dependent on being ‘right,’ not making a mistake, being infallible (or perfect), then once again—you make yourself dependent on batting 100% all the time. Not a serene way to live!
