IT’S HOW MORE THAN WHAT
The idea that some people don’t know how to think probably sounds preposterous at first glance.
The idea that some people don’t know how to think probably sounds preposterous at first glance. And on the surface, it does seem like a pretty extreme statement. Are there really people who don’t know how to think? How could that be? What do you mean not know how to think? Doesn’t everyone who has a mind know how to think?
Having a mind certainly enables everyone to have the potential for effectively using that tool to do information gathering, mental processing of that information, and accurate evaluating using one’s best values and criteria. But to think and to truly think well requires training. Without training people tend to default to the cognitive distortions (childish thinking patterns), cognitive biases (how the brain is inherently biased), and cognitive fallacies (false ways of reasoning that leads to manipulation and deception).
