What is the bottom line for managers?
What is the bottom line for managers? It is to manage, and specifically to manage the people and the problems involved in achieving the larger-level objectives of the company. Namely, to create value for the customer in terms of products, services, or information. Managers are therefore problem-solvers. That’s their job. They are specifically to facilitate those under their guidance to be able to solve problems so the organization reaches its objectives.
If those at the top (those in the C-suite) imagine the future, foresee trends in the marketplace, and create and communicate a vision that inspires the minds and hearts of people, then the managers are solve the problems which arise in terms of implementing that vision within the organization’s system. That means facilitating problem solving. It means to be engaged in solving the people problems and the process problems that arise.
