In a training room, have you set your professional boundaries?

Do you know what you will and will not allow to happen in your trainings? Have you thought through how you will respond when a situation breaches your professional standards?

I have always known what is and is not ok within my training room. That’s because I have set, in my mind, how I will respond and what I will not allow to happen. I also know the value of having those standards clearly understood and to remain conscious of them when challenged. Some of the boundaries I have set will include how I will respond to: Lateness, conflict, unacceptable forms of communication, bullying or demeaning behaviours, talking over one another, arguing, mismatching, prejudice, misunderstanding, not following directions, making irrelevant comments, personalising, being offended by what you have said, falling asleep, yawning, and generally being disruptive.

The list I’ve made is not complete, but I’m sure you get the idea. Have you taken the time to think about how you will address any one of those situations? If you haven’t, then I strongly recommend you to do so.
