The very first pattern we train in NLP Practitioner is ‘Perceptual Flexibility’. Have you ever tried to deliver your training through these multi-perspectives?

I realized something when I was on the Assist team at NSTT. Some trainers become so focused on delivering the pattern that they often miss the ‘point’ of the pattern. I would often find trainers pairing up during tea breaks, lunch breaks and after dinner until late hours practicing ‘how to deliver’ the pattern. Not many trainers practice how to ‘experience’ the pattern.

I recall once, a trainer in my team who was highly skilled at creating rapport and engaging with the audience. He easily demonstrated skills for Group Engagement, Inducing State and Effective use of voice, at a level of 2.5, yet he struggled to achieve the benchmarks for ‘Meaning Content’ and ‘Framing’. When I gave him feedback, I asked if he had experienced the pattern himself and suggested he asks someone to run the pattern on him. He did not. He wanted to spend as much time as possible on ‘perfecting’ his skills in presenting the pattern.
