What’s the best way to undermine your training results?

What’s the best way to undermine your training results? What is it that when you do it, you’ll lose your credibility with your audience almost immediately?

The title says it all. You'll lose your credibility and undermine your trainings when you teach one thing and clearly do the opposite to what you teach. I’ve watched many trainers do exactly that. And you need to be aware of when you do it and preferably make the appropriate corrections to align your behaviours with your teaching, to avoid making this all too common mistake.

What makes it such a common thing amongst trainers and presenters? I’ll put it down to 3 basic things: The trainer has no awareness they have a mis-alignment. The trainer has an awareness of what they are doing and they justify why they can say one thing and do another. The trainer denies they are doing anything wrong.

From my own discussions with trainers, it is those three reasons that are the most common I have had said to me when I confront them about walking their talk. What’s an example of when a trainer does not walk their talk?
