As a trainer, you would have probably encountered many different experiences in the learning classroom. If you were like me, most probably your experiences would range from the note-worthy to the cringe-worthy! How many times have you experienced situations where the training room set-up had made a significant impact in your presentation? You would probably have developed your personal preferences about your preferred way of setting-up the room to create a conducive learning environment, haven't you?

In this week's Trainers' Reflection, I'd like to share with you a few things that I have discovered that help to create a built environment that supports:

  • The immediate build-up of rapport
  • Participants' engagement
  • Ease of learning

ZEN— using furniture to prime the participants for an exceptional learning experience.

ZEN— the secret is in the details.

Most of my training is with corporate organisations. The nice thing about working with corporations is that they provide you with training rooms. The other thing is that training rooms change, depending on availability. So, I need to be flexible in dealing with differing conditions. I need to be able to make the most of what is available and make modifications where necessary.
